Chat

SalesOS includes a built-in chat system so your team can communicate without switching to a separate app. Discuss deals, share updates, celebrate wins, and coordinate — all within the platform.

Accessing Chat

Click Chat in the sidebar or press G then C. The chat interface opens with your conversations on the left and the message area on the right.

Channels

Channels are group conversations organized by topic. They are visible to all members who join them.

Default Channels

Every SalesOS workspace starts with these channels:
  • #general — Company-wide announcements and discussions
  • #sales — Sales team conversations
  • #wins — Automatic posts when deals are closed (celebration channel)
  • #random — Off-topic conversations

Creating a Channel

1

Click the + icon next to Channels

In the chat sidebar, click the plus icon.
2

Set channel details

Enter a channel name, description, and choose whether it is public or private.
3

Add members

Invite team members to the channel. For public channels, anyone can join later.
4

Create

Click Create Channel and start the conversation.
Private channels are only visible to invited members. Use them for sensitive discussions like management topics or specific deal teams.

Direct Messages

Send private messages to any team member:
  1. Click New Message or the compose icon
  2. Type the person’s name to find them
  3. Start typing your message
  4. Press Enter to send
You can also create group direct messages with up to 8 people for small team discussions that do not need a full channel.

Message Features

Text Formatting

SalesOS chat supports rich text formatting:
  • Bold — Surround text with **asterisks**
  • Italic — Surround text with *single asterisks*
  • Code — Surround text with backticks
  • Links — Paste a URL and it auto-links
  • Mentions — Type @ followed by a name to notify someone

File Sharing

Drag and drop files into the chat, or click the attachment icon. Supported file types include images, PDFs, documents, and spreadsheets up to 25MB.

Reactions

React to messages with emoji by hovering over a message and clicking the reaction icon. Reactions are a quick way to acknowledge a message without sending a reply.

Threading

Reply to a specific message to create a thread:
  1. Hover over the message
  2. Click the Reply in thread icon
  3. Type your reply in the thread panel
Threads keep conversations organized and prevent important discussions from being lost in a busy channel.

Deal Discussions

When viewing a deal in the pipeline, you can start a chat directly from the deal card:
  1. Open the deal detail view
  2. Click the Chat tab
  3. Messages here are linked to the deal and visible to all deal participants
This is useful for discussing strategy, sharing updates, or coordinating next steps without leaving the deal context.
Use deal discussions instead of channels when the conversation is specific to one opportunity. This keeps the context together with the deal history.

Notifications

Chat notifications follow your general notification settings:
  • Desktop notifications — Browser notifications for new messages
  • Sound — Audio alert for incoming messages
  • Badge count — Unread message count on the Chat icon
  • Mute — Mute specific channels or conversations to stop notifications

Do Not Disturb

Enable Do Not Disturb mode to pause all chat notifications:
  1. Click your avatar in the bottom-left
  2. Select Do Not Disturb
  3. Choose a duration (30 min, 1 hour, 4 hours, until tomorrow, custom)
Use the search bar at the top of the chat to find messages, files, or people:
  • Search by keyword across all conversations
  • Filter by channel, person, or date range
  • Find shared files by name
